Yoga Therapy for Every Body
Whether you're seeking support for a specific concern or simply value the preventative and mindful aspects of yoga, therapeutic yoga is for everyone. All sessions are integrative and holistic, but my main areas of focus can be found below.

INJURY RECOVERY & HEALTHY AGING
My yoga style tends to feel gentle while being incredibly strengthening, which can be supportive for maturing populations, anyone overcoming an injury, or for those who prefer a slower, more mindful practice. I focus on stabilizing and mobilizing the joints and strengthening deep muscles throughout the body. Connection to the breath is also an essential aspect utilized in every session.

By cultivating proper anatomical alignment and somatic awareness (both an internal and external sense of the body), we can decrease physical pain, build resilience, and cultivate longevity. This kind of movement is both healing and prevents further injury, restoring a felt sense of the body's natural integration and goodness.

I work with all mobility levels and often incorporate chair yoga into sessions, regardless of ability.

CHRONIC PAIN & ILLNESS
For those living with chronic pain, yoga therapy is a modality which can be profoundly impactful. This is often accounted to the emphasis placed on breathing, which disrupts the pain and stress response by activating the parasympathetic nervous system. Sometimes chronic pain is linked to sub-optimal movement patterns and lifestyle habits, and my assessment can help identify and correct any imbalances.

Chronic pain and the stress of illness can often impact sleep quality, and yoga therapy can help improve this. Studies have shown that one hour of yoga nidra (deep relaxation practice) is equivalent to four hours of sleep!

I also specialize in therapeutic yoga for cancer, heart and autoimmune disease, and chronic or terminal illness. For these cases, breathwork and the mindful aspects of yoga can be beneficial for reducing pain, lowering stress, and connecting to one's wholeness.

MENTAL-EMOTIONAL WELLNESS
For mental and emotional health, yoga therapy is a wonderful complement to more traditional forms of mental health care. I specialize in nervous system regulation and mindfulness tools that can support states of anxiety, chronic stress, depression, and grief.

My sessions are always trauma-informed and prioritize nervous system care. Whether you need strengthening movement, deep rest, breathing support, or tools for self-regulation, the diverse practices of yoga are proven to positively impact mental-emotional wellbeing.

As a clinical social worker in training, I am passionate about integrating mind-body practices into the realm of mental health care, and my clinical training supports my approach as a yoga therapist.

HEALING TRAUMA & PTSD
Research has shown that traumatic experiences which have not been processed or integrated live on in the body and nervous system as a physical imprint or memory of the event(s). This can cause the body and mind to become more reactive and sensitive to perceived danger and to replay painful memories as if they are happening in the present. Unresolved trauma and PTSD can also coincide with depression, heightened anxiety, disassociation, and other painful states.

Because yoga and mindfulness practices work on the levels of body, breath, energy, and emotion, they can help integrate traumatic experiences and restore a sense of safety within one's own body and with the external world. My approach to trauma healing is gentle and client-centered, moving at your pace and meeting you where you're at in every moment.
